Driver cited after flaming 18-wheeler incident shuts down I-85 near the state line

Oconee County, South Carolina. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a driver has been cited following a fiery incident that closed the interstate near the Georgia-South Carolina border.

According to officials, a tractor-trailer ran off the road to the right, collided with a guard rail, and then struck a bridge pillar before catching fire on I-85 southbound near exit 2. The driver sustained minor injuries and was the only occupant.

Troopers say the driver was cited for traveling too fast for the conditions.

At 4 p.m., SCDOT reported that the right lane was still closed.

A viewer reported that cars in the southbound lane are being detoured to exit 4.
