Dorchester County, South Carolina — A man with outstanding warrants is facing more charges Monday after leading Dorchester County deputies on a high-speed chase.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop around 1:22 p.m. after a blue Dodge Charger driver ran a stop sign on Orangeburg Road, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, identified as Ronnie James Feagin, 51, continued the pursuit, which passed numerous communities until coming to a halt near Cheyenne Road and Sinclair Road in Knightsville.
The sheriff’s office reported that Feagin eventually drove the charger into a ditch.
Feagin is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of methamphetamine (less than one gram), driving while suspended, chronic offender, operating an unregistered vehicle, invalid vehicle license, and violating a stop sign.
There were no injuries reported during the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
“Our community is safer now with this suspect in custody, but we also want to make sure that no one else is put in harm’s way while we’re pursuing the suspect,” a DCSO spokesperson, Steve Wright, stated. “So our deputies did a great job with teamwork today, adhering to our pursuit policy, and we do everything we can to mitigate situations like this, while also safeguarding the quality of life of the citizens of Dorchester County.”
