Charleston will kick off the holiday season with 'Light the Lake' at Colonial Lake

Charleston, South Carolina – Residents and guests are welcome to Colonial Lake on Sunday for the City of Charleston’s “Light the Lake” event and tree lighting.

Surrounded by brilliant luminaries, the event offers an evening of live entertainment and kid-friendly activities.

Shortwave Kitsch will play “Letters to Santa,” while Fouché Sheppard, a storyteller and inspirational speaker, is set to offer a special Gullah rendition of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Charleston Mayor William Cogswell will lead a countdown when the lakeside tree is lit up for the season.

There will also be a scavenger hunt, a candy cane quest, a snowball fight area, and photo chances with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Attendees can enjoy food trucks such as The Biscuit Shed, Lola’s Lumpia Food Truck, D’Allesandro’s Pizza, Pure Fluff Co., and Coastal Cowgirl Coffee.

The events start at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 at Colonial Lake.
