Charleston, South Carolina — A Palmetto State podcaster sits down with two globally recognized personalities who grew up in the Lowcountry.

Kardea Brown, an Emmy-winning soul food chef, and Charlamagne tha God, a syndicated radio DJ, are likely familiar names.

And the podcast presenter who will interview them in front of a live audience the day after Thanksgiving predicts the rest of the country will eventually know her name.

Kris Kaylin is a downtown native who was born and raised.

“I graduated from the School of the Arts with a dance major. “I went to South Carolina State and graduated in 2016 with a degree in broadcast communications,” she explained.

Kaylin is both the host and creator of “Princess Diaries.” The podcast showcases Carolina-born entertainers and media pioneers.

So, what could the audience expect from this experience?

“I want people to leave feeling that they can achieve whatever goal they set for themselves, no matter how large or small, because seeing individuals from your hometown doing fantastic things sparks something. It says, ‘You know what, this is truly achievable.’ So I want people to walk away believing that they can achieve any dream they set for themselves,” Kaylin stated.

Telia Rivers watches “Princess Diaries” and is quite thrilled about the occasion.

“That is what I’m most looking forward to.” I’m looking forward to hearing the stories and honoring the local talent all in one place,” Rivers stated.

Charlamagne, real name Lenard McKelvey, grew raised in Moncks Corner and now mentors Kaylin. He contacted her after knowing she worked in radio.

“I heard the break you did and I think you’re really funny,” Kaylin told her. “And then he was like, ‘I just want to mentor you and help you in any way that I can.'” And Charlamagne has helped me in so many ways, both seen and unseen, that I probably won’t talk about.”

Kaylin describes her relationship with Brown, who grew up in the Charleston area, as something she “manifested” into existence.

“I am quite interactive on Instagram. Kaylin stated, “I used to think we were cousins, but now we’re real cousins.”

On the day following Thanksgiving, a live audience for “Princess Diaries” will witness an intimate interaction between Kaylin’s renowned cousin, Kardea, and her mentor, Charlamagne.

It will also include AJ Holiday, a Charleston native who hosts the “We Talk Back” podcast and is swiftly creating a name for herself in the social media sector.

“The Princess Diaries Live” podcast will air Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Charleston.
