Firefighters quickly brought a hotel fire under control in downtown Charleston on Friday afternoon.

The Charleston Fire Department responded around 2:30 p.m. to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Spring Street after receiving reports of a fire inside the building.
Quick Response Prevents Spread
Initial reports prompted a request for a second alarm, indicating concerns about the potential severity of the fire.
However, crews were able to quickly isolate the blaze on the eighth floor and extinguish it before it could spread further. The second alarm was later canceled.
