Charleston County, South Carolina – The Charleston County School District has implemented a new High-Intensity Tutoring program.
According to district officials, the initiative is intended to provide rigorous academic support to pupils in need.
CCSD will engage with a network of verified tutoring providers under an outcome-based contracting model to assist students in core areas.
Before services are offered, CCSD and tutoring providers will agree on clear, quantifiable targets, such as standardized assessment gains, better reading levels, or demonstrated mastery of important skills.
The providers will be reimbursed based on the academic growth of their pupils, ensuring that resources are allocated where they have the greatest influence on learning.
“Our students deserve tutoring programs that are not only high-quality, but also proven to improve achievement,” stated CCSD Superintendent of Schools Anita Huggins. “By linking payment to student results, we are ensuring accountability and focusing every dollar on what matters most, accelerating learning.”
HIT will be delivered in small groups by both in-person and virtual providers covering basic subjects. To learn more about the tutoring program, click here.
