The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will present its 2025 annual report Tuesday, outlining crime trends, enforcement activity and the growing demands tied to one of the fastest-growing counties in the state.
With a population exceeding 272,000 residents, the agency reported responding to 107,619 calls for service in 2025. Deputies made 1,880 arrests and conducted nearly 2,000 high-visibility patrols. The south district handled more than 75% of total calls, while the north district carried out over 60% of proactive patrol efforts.
Drug Enforcement and Seizures
According to the report, the Berkeley County Drug Enforcement Task Force made significant narcotics seizures during the year. Deputies confiscated approximately 778 grams of methamphetamine, 540 grams of cocaine and 375 grams of fentanyl. Authorities also seized 44 firearms and recovered nearly $95,000 in cash connected to investigations.
K9 Operations and Traffic Enforcement
The agency’s K9 Unit, made up of nine handlers and nine canines, conducted 520 deployments in 2025. Deputies carried out 126 tracks with a 57% success rate, leading to 420 arrests and the capture of 45 suspects through canine tracking efforts.
Roadway safety remained a priority, with the traffic unit responsible for 80 of the agency’s 90 DUI arrests. Deputies issued 3,663 citations and investigated 146 crashes throughout the year.
Sheriff Duane Lewis is expected to highlight these figures and additional public safety initiatives during a news conference Tuesday morning.
