Warming centers in the Lowcountry area of Charleston, S.C., are opening on January 11-12, 2026, due to expected cold temperatures dropping Sunday night. These shelters provide essential services like warm sleeping areas, meals, and showers for those without adequate heat or experiencing homelessness.

Seacoast Church Summerville

This center at 301 East 5th North Street operates Sunday and Monday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with entry at the back door facing Gum Street. It welcomes men, women, families, and pets (via Sheltered Paws nonprofit), offering meals and showers.

Holy City Missions at Aldersgate

Located at 1444 Remount Road in North Charleston, this shelter opens both nights with registration from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., closing at 7 a.m.; capacity is 65 on a first-come, first-served basis. Services include meals, showers, clothes, toiletries, and optional devotion, but no pets; CARTA bus route 13 provides rides.

Hibben United Methodist Church

In Mount Pleasant at 690 Coleman Boulevard, this operates only Sunday, January 11, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. (no entry after 11 p.m. without prior arrangements). Guests get meals, showers with supplies, clothes, and pickup from Mary Conway Park via church shuttle, with CARTA return downtown.
