Charleston, South Carolina – A community town hall is set for Thursday night in downtown Charleston ahead of the November 4 municipal election.
The town hall’s objective is to provide people the opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their vision and intentions for serving the community.
The town hall will be hosted by the A. Philip Randolph Institute Southern Chapter, a nonpartisan civil rights organization, as part of a series designed to engage voters.
Organizers said the rally will raise the voices of workers, residents, and candidates.
Brandon Brown, a candidate for the United States Senate, and Sylvia Wright, a candidate for State Superintendent of Education, are anticipated to attend, as well as other participants.
“Their participation reflects the importance of this dialogue, which spans local, state, and federal leadership,” according to the event organizers.
Javar Juarez, editor-in-chief of the Columbia Urban Broadcast Network, will moderate the town hall.
The event will be hosted at the St. Julian Devine Community Center (1 Cooper Street) from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
