A section of King Street in downtown Charleston was temporarily closed on Wednesday afternoon due to a reported gas leak, according to the Charleston Police Department.
The affected area is between Market Street and Horlbeck Alley, and the closure began around 3 p.m.
Dominion Energy crews were on-site soon after the report, actively working to identify the source of the leak. As of now, there have been no evacuation orders issued for nearby residents or businesses, and no injuries have been reported.
Police are urging people to avoid the area while crews continue their work.
