A Charleston man has been arrested after being accused of breaking into several vehicles in the Moncks Corner area early Sunday morning. The suspect was caught after a resident spotted him on their surveillance camera attempting to break into a vehicle.
What Happened?
At around 3:30 a.m., a resident in the Fairlawn subdivision called the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office to report a man trying to break into a vehicle. The homeowner provided a description of the suspect, which helped deputies locate the individual quickly.
When deputies arrived, they found a man who matched the description and made contact with him. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Steven McCray Harrison Jr. from Charleston.
What Was Found During the Investigation?
Officials discovered that Harrison had a window punch tool, six social security cards, and a bank card that did not belong to him. Harrison later admitted to deputies that he planned to sell the items he had taken. The investigation revealed that at least five vehicles in the area had been unlawfully entered.
