A director of the SC military training program was detained after punching a cadet.

Ronnie Scott, the former director of the Youth Challenge Program at McCrady Training Center within Fort Jackson, was arrested on January 9, 2026, for assault and third-degree battery against a cadet.​

Incident Details

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint on October 9, 2025, from the state Office of the Inspector General about an assault at the center. Video surveillance captured Scott, age 56, following the cadet outside a building and throwing him to the ground.​​

Arrest and Release

Scott was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and released the same day on a $500 personal recognizance bond. The incident led to his prior dismissal from the program role.​
