Beginning next week, Mount Pleasant will see new public transportation changes as part of service adjustments by CARTA. Effective Monday, October 13, 2025, these changes include revised bus schedules and route transitions to improve efficiency, address traffic patterns, and better align services with rider demand.
On local routes serving Mount Pleasant, adjustments will focus on optimizing trip times around high-volume periods and improving connections for passengers transferring between the Mount Pleasant area and Downtown Charleston. Route 40 will dedicate vehicles to circulate within Mount Pleasant as well as make direct trips to Downtown, using Towne Center as a central transfer point. Route 41 will run only on adjusted local circuits, also connecting with Route 40 for downtown travel.
Passengers are encouraged to use the transit app or CARTA’s Next Bus phone line for real-time updates. Customer service will remain available via call or online chat for further assistance during these transitions.
No information is currently available about additional changes such as fare updates or entirely new routes starting next week.
