Volunteering for community clean-up in Fort Mill is easy and open to residents, families, schools, and local businesses through several ongoing 2025 programs coordinated by the Town of Fort Mill Stormwater Department and community partners.
Team Up to Clean Up Fort Mill 2025
This is the town’s flagship annual clean-up event running from April 22 to May 11, 2025, as part of Fort Mill’s Earth Month celebration.
How to join: Register as a group or individual through the Town of Fort Mill’s official website under Team Up to Clean Up Fort Mill 2025.
Contact: Email Mina MacDonald (Stormwater Management Coordinator) at [email protected] to sign up or ask questions.
Details:Â The town provides supplies including gloves, safety vests, trash bags, and scales to weigh collected litter. Town crews collect bagged trash from registered in-town areas, while volunteers in Baxter or Regent Park should take their trash to York County convenience centers.
Eligibility: Volunteers under 15 must have a guardian present. Road clean-ups are permitted only on roads with speed limits of 45 mph or less.
Keep Fort Mill Beautiful Initiative
Ongoing year-round through the town’s Keep Fort Mill Beautiful committee, this program encourages residents to help maintain local parks, storm drains, and natural areas.
What it includes:Â Storm Drain Marking, neighborhood litter patrols, beautification projects, and recycling education.
Volunteers can sign up to receive notifications about upcoming projects and training opportunities via the town’s Stormwater Department page.
Second Saturday Service at Anne Springs Close Greenway
In partnership with The Anne Springs Close Greenway, monthly volunteer clean-up events take place on the second Saturday of each month (February, March, April, May, June, September, and November 2025).
How to participate:Â Pre-registration is required via the Anne Springs Close Greenway website. Registered volunteers receive location and safety details before each event.
Age requirement: Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteer Blitz Event
Held annually at the Greenway, the Volunteer Blitz (next date: March 29, 2025) gathers community members for large-scale clean-up, painting, and trail maintenance projects. Volunteers choose two- to three-hour shifts covering trail sign cleaning, power washing, and litter patrols at multiple Greenway entrances.
