Hilton Head Island Mayor Announces New Infrastructure Projects

In 2025, Hilton Head Island Mayor Alan Perry has announced several key infrastructure projects focused on improving quality of life, environmental sustainability, and safety.

Major Infrastructure Projects

278 William Hilton Parkway Corridor: This project aims to address critical infrastructure needs by improving roadway safety and planning for a replacement bridge. The project faces funding challenges, but community leaders are working toward solutions that support local and regional economies while enhancing road safety.

Beach Renourishment Project: A major $47.5 million beach restoration initiative is underway to preserve Hilton Head’s beaches, crucial for the environment and tourism economy. Scheduled to run from late summer 2025 through 2026 in three phases covering multiple shoreline areas, the project includes sand placement using hydraulic dredging. Some beach access and parking restrictions will be in effect during construction.

Community and Environmental Enhancements

Stoney Community Oaks: Landscaping and beautification improvements at the intersection of William Hilton Parkway and Squire Pope Road, featuring preservation of majestic live oak trees and the creation of inviting community spaces to enhance the island’s natural beauty and sustainability.

Coastal Discovery Museum Upgrades: Significant capital improvements include upgraded pavilions with new lighting and fans, accessible pathways, enhanced landscaping, and tree care to enrich visitor experiences.

Utilities and Water Infrastructure

Hilton Head Public Service District is coordinating with transportation projects to manage water and sewer infrastructure relocation costs stemming from highway improvements, with efforts to minimize impacts on residents’ utility bills.

These projects reflect a strategic focus on infrastructure modernization, environmental stewardship, and enhancing community amenities under Mayor Perry’s leadership for 2025.
