The Hilton Head Island Health Department has released new guidelines for 2025, including important updates on immunizations and public health services relevant to residents and visitors. For the school year 2025-26, specific vaccination requirements include mandatory doses of Tdap vaccines for students in grades 7-12 and two Hepatitis A vaccines for kindergarten entrants. Proof of immunization on official forms must be submitted for school enrollment compliance.
The Health Department emphasizes scheduling vaccinations early to ensure students meet these requirements and avoid delays in school attendance. Appointments for vaccinations can be made through local providers such as the Beaufort County Health Department, Volunteers in Medicine, and other clinics in the area that participate in vaccination programs.
Additionally, Hilton Head Island is progressing with its 2025-2026 beach renourishment project to preserve the local environment and maintain wide sandy shorelines for community health and recreation. The project operates continuously along the shoreline, with minimal beach access restrictions each day to balance environmental work and public use.
Beyond immunization and environmental health, the area will also host the 2025 Annual Rural Health Conference in Hilton Head, November 4-6, focusing on rural healthcare issues, education, and community health advancement, gathering professionals and stakeholders across the state.
These measures reflect a comprehensive approach by Hilton Head Island Health Department to public health, safety, and community well-being in 2025.
