This week, free COVID-19 testing is available daily on Hilton Head Island and nearby Bluffton through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Several urgent care centers and clinics also offer COVID-19 testing (some may charge a fee), but DHEC sites are the primary source for no-cost tests.
No-Cost DHEC Testing Site Near Hilton Head
Hilton Head DHEC Community Testing Site (Tanger Two, Bluffton)
Address: 1414 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29910
Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily
Details: DHEC conducts free PCR COVID-19 testing; no appointment or insurance required; pre-registration available but walk-ins accepted. Results typically in 48–72 hours. Bring a parent/guardian if under 18.
Other locations providing COVID-19 tests on Hilton Head Island include urgent care centers such as Main Street Medical and Cross Island Medical Center, as well as local pharmacies. These may charge fees or require insurance, and some rapid/antigen tests may not be free.
