The Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed the payment schedule for July 2025. As millions of beneficiaries in the U.S. continue to receive their monthly payments, there is one key update: individuals born between the 1st and 20th of the month will not receive a payment on July 26. However, this does not mean they are missing out on their benefits. The SSA’s payment schedule is based on birth dates, and these individuals have already received their payments earlier in the month.
How Does the Social Security Payment Schedule Work?
The SSA organizes monthly payments based on the birth dates of beneficiaries. Here is how it works:
Born from the 1st to the 10th: Payments are made on the second Wednesday of the month.
Born from the 11th to the 20th: Payments are made on the third Wednesday of the month.
Born from the 21st to the 31st: Payments are made on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
What Happens to the July 26 Social Security Payment?
On July 26, 2025, there will be no payments made by the SSA. Those who would typically receive their payments on the fourth Wednesday of the month, i.e., individuals born between the 21st and 31st, will receive their payments on Wednesday, July 23rd, instead.
If you were born between the 1st and 20th, your payment was already made on July 10th or July 17th, depending on your exact birth date range. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about missing a payment on the 26th, as it’s part of the regular payment schedule.
Social Security Payment Amounts
In July 2025, the SSA continues to issue monthly payments ranging from $1,900 to $2,000 to retirees, depending on their contributions and age at retirement.
Additionally, people receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Disability Benefits (SSDI) will receive their payments on their respective schedules, typically on the 1st of each month, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday. For July 2025, the SSI payment was made on Tuesday, July 1st, as usual, with no changes to the schedule.
Who Qualifies to Receive Social Security Payments?
The following individuals are eligible to receive Social Security payments:
Retired individuals who have contributed during their working years.
People with disabilities approved by the SSA.
Widows, widowers, and other family beneficiaries in certain cases.
SSI beneficiaries, usually low-income individuals over the age of 65 or those with disabilities.
Important Reminder: Update Your Bank Details
For those who receive Social Security payments via direct deposit, it’s essential to keep your bank details up to date to ensure timely receipt. For individuals receiving physical checks, it may take longer for the check to arrive, depending on the delivery method.
