The spokesperson referred to the Federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, which restricts the release of personal information related to drivers. Requests for a written crash report, including a redacted version, were denied. Police leaders typically refer media inquiries to an email account, where responses are sent without identifying specific officers handling the case.
Ball’s Reaction and Team’s Silence
Ball, who was not injured in the crash, spoke briefly about the incident during a press conference after the Hornets’ loss to the Houston Rockets the following day. When asked how he knew the other driver wasn’t hurt, he replied, “I seen her get straight out the car.” He expressed gratitude for his well-being, saying, “God is great.” The Hornets organization has chosen not to comment on the incident.
