A Greenville man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in a marijuana trafficking operation that also involved firearms.
Federal Sentence Issued
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 26-year-old Larry Eugene Gunnin III was sentenced to 180 months in prison.
The charges stem from criminal activity that took place between 2020 and January 2025.
Drug Trafficking Operation
Investigators say Gunnin conspired with others to possess and distribute marijuana over several years.
Authorities determined the operation involved the unlawful distribution of the drug, along with coordinated efforts among multiple individuals.
Firearms Involved
Officials also found that Gunnin knowingly possessed firearms while participating in drug trafficking.
Law enforcement says the presence of weapons significantly increased the seriousness of the case.
Multi-Agency Investigation
The investigation was carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in partnership with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the collaboration helped build the case and secure the conviction.
Supervised Release to Follow
After completing his prison sentence, Gunnin will serve six years of supervised release.
Because the case was handled in the federal system, he will not be eligible for parole.
Case Concluded
Officials say the sentencing marks the conclusion of the case and reflects ongoing efforts to target drug trafficking operations involving illegal firearms.
