Tropical Depression 7 develops in the Atlantic

Charleston, South Carolina – The National Hurricane Center announced that Tropical Depression Seven formed early Wednesday morning in the tropical central Atlantic Ocean.

According to the center’s 5 a.m. advisory, TD7 was heading west at 13 mph with winds of 35 mph.

The storm is predicted to build into a tropical storm named Gabrielle before eventually becoming a hurricane, most likely by the weekend.

“A west-northwestward to northwestward motion across the tropical and subtropical central Atlantic is expected during the next few days,” according to the NHC.

For the time being, the system is unlikely to have an impact on land in the next days.
