In Anderson County, South Carolina, the trial for Amy Vilardi and her husband Rosmore “Ross” Vilardi, charged with the 2015 quadruple homicide of family members, is now scheduled for February 23.

Case Background

The victims—Barbara Scott (80), her son Mike Scott (59), his wife Cathy Scott (60), and Cathy’s mother Violet Taylor (82)—were killed on Halloween 2015 in their Pendleton home and discovered two days later. Amy Vilardi, Cathy’s daughter and Violet’s granddaughter, lived next door with Ross and publicly mourned the “wonderful people” shortly after, while investigators described the scene as gruesome with shootings and stabbings.

Arrest and Motive

The couple was arrested in December 2023 after years of investigation aided by shows like Cold Justice, facing four murder counts each; bond was denied in February 2024 amid claims of financial motives tied to inheritance and $67,000-$87,000 cash seized from their home. They had sued the sheriff’s office in 2016 for return of seized property, including vehicles and cash.

Prosecution Status

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting, with the case drawing renewed attention via a 2020 billboard on US-76 seeking tips. The Vilardis have maintained innocence in prior statements.
