The search for the Lowcountry's next Remarkable Woman has begun

The 2025 Remarkable Women initiative by WCBD News 2 and Nexstar is now accepting nominations of women who are making a significant impact in the Lowcountry through leadership, service, and community contributions. Nominations are open through December 19, 2025, and can be submitted via the Remarkable Women tab on the counton2.com website or by scanning the QR code shown during News 2 broadcasts.

Two past winners highlighted the award’s importance: Dr. Marvella Ford, the 2023 winner from MUSC, was recognized for her work with underserved communities and launching a mobile health unit for rural areas, describing the recognition as life-changing. Nanci Steadman Shipman, founder of Wake Up Carolina, noted the award spotlighted the entire recovery community rather than just her individual effort.

The process includes a panel selecting four finalists who will be featured on air, culminating in naming the Lowcountry’s most remarkable woman. The winner receives a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit of her choice and a trip to Nashville to connect with other remarkable women nationwide. This program honors women who inspire and lead in their communities, amplifying their impact through recognition and support.

Four finalists will be featured on air, and the Lowcountry winner will receive:

A donation to the charity of her choice

A trip to Nashville

A chance to be named National Remarkable Woman
