Teen dies in Liberty crash.

The coroner’s office is investigating a deadly crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in Liberty. Emergency officials responded to the area of Breazeale Road and Ashley Lane following reports of a single-vehicle collision.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Ford sedan was traveling east on Breazeale Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

Victim Identified as 17-Year-Old Passenger

The Pickens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Leeland Cole Yates of Liberty. Officials said Yates was a restrained passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Investigation Ongoing

The crash remains under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
