BEAUFORT, S.C. – Dr. Richard Gough, president of the Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL), is retiring after 12 years of service. His retirement marks the beginning of the search for his successor. Dr. Gough, who began his tenure in January 2014, expressed that leading the college has been the most incredible opportunity of his professional career.
A Legacy of Leadership and Gratitude
In a recent email to TCL employees, Dr. Gough shared his gratitude, calling his time as president a “privilege and a joy.” His leadership has been widely appreciated by staff and students, and multiple events are planned for this spring to honor his contributions to the institution.
Search for New President Underway
The Area Commission and the S.C. Technical College System have formed a search committee to find a replacement for Dr. Gough. The committee is looking for a “high-energy, ethical visionary and collaborative leader” with at least ten years of experience in academic executive or administrative roles, ideally within the technical or community college sectors.
