Summerville, South Carolina – A man from Johns Island is facing many counts after a gun deal evolved into an armed robbery and shooting in the Summerville area last month.
According to court filings, Josiah Kashawn Campbell has been charged with aggravated assault and battery, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a violent felony, and conspiracy.
According to investigators, Campbell and a second guy went to the victim’s residence at 6:11 p.m. on Oct. 21 to sell a pistol. Security footage shows the victim approaching the men’s car, according to affidavits.
According to police, the victim informed the individuals that he would pay $220 via Cash App and had $100 in cash to purchase a PSA Dagger weapon.
According to affidavits, the victim continued the conversation until the Cash App transfer was finished at around 6:18 p.m., when a single gunshot rang out, after which the victim fell to the ground, stood, and walked into the front yard.
According to authorities, the second man drove the vehicle away at high speed.
License plate recognition cameras identified the vehicle, leading investigators to the second man. Investigators issued a search warrant, seizing the second man’s vehicle and cellphone. According to the records, they discovered text conversations on Campbell’s cellphone from the second man indicating that they planned to rob the victim.
During the incident, the victim had a life-threatening injury. EMS transported him to a nearby hospital, where he underwent two procedures.
Investigators stated that the second man had not been charged.
