Palmetto Scholars Academy (PSA) from North Charleston, South Carolina, sent three teams—Tron, Infinite Horizon, and Cowboy Stardust—to the #InSPIRESS NASA competition at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) on December 5, 2025. High school students collaborated with UAH undergraduates to design scientific payloads for spacecraft, competing across three divisions. All PSA teams won Overall Team awards in their divisions.

Team Achievements

  • Tron (Division A): Secured 1st place in Outreach and Open House, plus Overall Team.
  • Infinite Horizon: Earned Overall Team in its division.
  • Cowboy Stardust (Division C): Took 1st place in Outreach and Final Review, plus Overall Team.

Program Details

The InSPIRESS program, based at UAH, promotes STEM by pairing high school teams with college engineers to integrate payloads into spacecraft designs, emphasizing real-world engineering and customer roles in development. PSA’s success included winning 11 out of 15 categories overall, as celebrated on the school’s site and social media.
