Six people were detained after a narcotics bust in South Carolina

Six people were arrested in Kershaw County, South Carolina, after a narcotics raid Wednesday on a home on Dixon Road in Elgin tied to 38‑year‑old Brandon Dixon. The operation, led by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and Special Response Team, along with SLED and Camden Police, uncovered drugs, firearms, and extensive animal neglect.

Drugs and weapons seized

During the search, deputies seized multiple firearms and a box of 7.92 Mauser ammunition, as well as fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and a large quantity of drug paraphernalia. Five adults were arrested on narcotics and firearms‑related charges. Dixon faces possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, distribution of crack cocaine, and other drug charges.

Those charged

The other adults charged are:

  • Jerisann Boozer, 30
  • Ashley Aquino, 41
  • Jamaal Portee, 37
  • McArthur Roseborough, 67, who also had an active warrant and was turned over to Elgin Police

All four are facing various drug charges.

Animal cruelty case

Investigators reported finding approximately eight adult dogs and 20 puppies that were malnourished and infested with parasites, along with several dead animals and a pig that appeared underweight and injured. Authorities said the animals lacked adequate food, water, and shelter. Dixon was charged with 29 counts of animal cruelty (including torture) and four counts of failing to properly dispose of dead animals.
