The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will continue offering courtesy boat inspections on Monday at two popular Lowcountry boat landings. These inspections are part of the agency’s effort to promote safe boating practices during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Inspections and Compliance
SCDNR law enforcement officers will conduct quick yet thorough checks of required safety equipment, as well as boat and motor registrations. While those who are found to be non-compliant with safety regulations or registration requirements will not be ticketed, they will need to resolve the issue before launching their boat.
Inspection Locations and Hours
The inspections will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Wappoo Cut Boat Landing in Charleston County and the Herbert Jessen Landing in Dorchester County.
Boating Safety Tips
SCDNR officers will also be available during the inspections to answer questions and provide helpful tips for staying safe while enjoying the waterways.
