Hoppin’ Rock Hill bar in Rock Hill, South Carolina, is donating 100% of proceeds from Sycamore Brewing sales to SafePassage, a local nonprofit aiding victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault across York, Chester, Lancaster, and Union counties.
Response to Allegations
The initiative responds to charges against Sycamore co-owner Justin Brigham, 44, arrested for allegedly breaking into a Stanly County home and committing statutory rape against a 13-year-old girl he contacted via social media. Brigham faces felony charges including first-degree burglary and indecent liberties with a child, held on $10 million bond, with his ownership divested as his wife assumes leadership.
Similar Local Actions
Hoppin’s general manager drew inspiration from Illumination Wines in Fort Mill, which offers “pay what you want” for Sycamore beers, directing proceeds to SACRED for families affected by child sexual abuse. The winery’s post spurred matching donations, including from Comer Distributing Company, amid broader backlash like grocery chains pulling Sycamore products.
