A routine traffic stop in North Charleston resulted in the discovery of drugs and a stolen firearm early Friday morning. An officer with the North Charleston Police Department was patrolling Dorchester Road near Apartment Boulevard when he observed a vehicle speeding. After pulling the vehicle over on Ridgebrook Drive, the officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car.
Firearms and Marijuana Seized
During a lawful search of the vehicle, officers discovered two firearms—one in the center console and another in the glove compartment. Alongside the firearms, a quantity of marijuana was also recovered.
Stolen Firearm Identified
A records check on one of the firearms revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Charleston County.
Arrest Made
Travis Brown Jr., 21, was arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center on charges of receiving stolen goods and simple possession of marijuana.
The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to keep the streets safe by tackling drug and firearm-related offenses.
