Charleston, South Carolina – Palmetto Goodwill is expanding its emergency food drive to help food banks struggling with the aftermath of the now-ended government shutdown.

Nonperishable food contributions are being accepted at 33 Palmetto Goodwill sites in the area, and will be donated to the Lowcountry Food Bank and Harvest Hope Food Bank.

“Palmetto Goodwill is proud to assist our neighbors experiencing food insecurity,” stated Brian Itzkowitz, President and CEO of Palmetto Goodwill. “Even though the shutdown has ended, families are still recovering from the disruption in their SNAP payments, and local food banks are attempting to refill supplies following weeks of increased demand. We remain dedicated to responding compassionately and effectively.”
