North Charleston, South Carolina – The South Carolina Association of School Administrators awarded special honors to a North Charleston High School leader on Thursday.
Assistant Principal Hannah Studemeyer was named the state’s Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year.
The Charleston County School District organized a celebration for Studemeyer, with students, faculty, community officials, and family members lined the school’s walkway to honor the instructor and commemorate his historic achievement.
According to officials, this is the first time an assistant principal from North Charleston High School has gotten the award, and Studemeyer is the second from the Charleston County School District since 2003.
Studemeyer expressed her gratitude for the award and stated that it was her mission to make a difference.
“It’s a recognition that gives me that justification,” she told me. “There are days it’s not easy, just like any job, but it’s amazing to know at the age of 40 that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to do.”
Studemeyer continued, “I come to work every day and simply adore it. Hopefully, I am leaving a better generation than mine. I have great faith in the next generation.”
She will represent North Charleston and South Carolina at a national conference held in Washington, D.C.
