New Lowe's filing: South End Charlotte and headquarters workers bore the brunt of huge layoffs.

Lowe’s, based in Mooresville, North Carolina, announced a mass layoff of about 600 corporate and tech workers, with the Charlotte region bearing 38% of the cuts through a WARN notice filed last Friday.

Layoff Breakdown

The company plans to eliminate 178 jobs at its Mooresville headquarters (1000 Lowe’s Blvd.) and 49 at the Charlotte Technology Hub (100 W. Worthington Ave., South End), sparing frontline store staff. Layoffs span roles like analysts, product designers, managers, and supply chain coordinators across over two dozen states, starting April 19 and wrapping by May 1.

Company Context

These permanent cuts represent under 1% of Lowe’s 300,000-strong workforce and aim to sharpen frontline focus amid a shifting home improvement market. Affected employees receive financial aid, extended benefits, and career support; the news precedes Lowe’s Q4 earnings call this month, following Q3 sales growth to $20.8 billion.
