Juvenile murdered in Spartanburg shooting

Spartanburg, South Carolina Spartanburg police are investigating after a shooting that killed a small boy early Saturday morning.

According to the Spartanburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home on Amherst Drive around 12:50 a.m. for a complaint of gunshot.

Officers found an unresponsive male juvenile with at least two gunshot wounds in the home’s kitchen.

The person was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity has not yet been revealed.

According to authorities, the victim was seated in the living room of the home when multiple gunshots were heard from the front yard. The rounds passed through a bay window and wounded the boy.

“This appears to be a targeted incident, and it is deeply terrible that a young person died in this fashion. Maj. Art Littlejohn of the Spartanburg Police Department asked the community to put the victim’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
