It truly is the work of the Lord': Former deputy returns home after Mexico arrest

Spartanburg County, South Carolina A former Spartanburg County Sheriff’s officer is back in the Upstate after being held in a Mexican jail for several days.

Russell Lynch told FOX Carolina that he was sightseeing near the Mexican border in Texas this week when he unintentionally crossed the border in his jeep carrying firearms.

Lynch stated that he was facing many charges, each carrying a minimum prison sentence of six years and a maximum of thirty years.

Lynch thanked his family, friends, and Congressman William Timmons for his freedom and the dropping of the charges.

Congressman Timmons stated on social media that his office is “committed to helping Upstate residents navigate urgent and challenging situations, whether at home or abroad.”

Lynch told FOX Carolina that he was grateful to be home.

“God was all over this situation. “I’ve had some good people in my life, and it’s never been more obvious than now,” Lynch remarked.
