Charleston County Public Works will hold a public meeting to provide updates and gather community feedback on intersection improvement projects on James Island.
The meeting is scheduled for March 3 at 6 p.m. at James Island Town Hall, located at 1122 Dills Bluff Road. The session is part of a series of quarterly meetings focused on keeping residents informed about project progress.
Intersection Upgrades at Fort Johnson Road
Officials will discuss improvements at the intersections of Fort Johnson and Secessionville roads, and Fort Johnson and Camp roads.
The Fort Johnson and Secessionville intersection is being converted into a signalized intersection featuring crosswalks, dedicated turning lanes and upgraded pedestrian infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Fort Johnson and Camp roads intersection will be transformed into a compact roundabout with similar pedestrian enhancements.
Funded by 2016 Transportation Sales Tax
The projects are funded through the 2016 Transportation Sales Tax referendum and are designed to improve traffic flow and enhance pedestrian safety in the area.
Construction is currently underway, with completion expected in June 2027.
