North Charleston, South Carolina – Part of Interstate 26 westbound in North Charleston will be closed Saturday as crews fix the bridge.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will close the westbound lanes near Eagle Drive beginning at 10 p.m., according to the North Charleston Police Department.
The area is expected to be closed until Sunday morning. Drivers are advised to avoid the area at this time.
While the closure is in force, all I-26 westbound traffic between I-526 and Ashley Phosphate Road must use Rivers Avenue as a detour, the department stated.
Crews are fixing the Eagle Drive bridge, which was hit by a truck carrying an excavator in October.
Drivers will be alerted about the changes via digital message boards and detour signage.
