North Charleston, S.C. – Two men were arrested on Tuesday morning after they breached the security perimeter at Charleston International Airport. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., when airport police were alerted to two men running toward the airport’s perimeter fence from a nearby construction site.

Details of the Incident

According to airport officials, the men breached the fence and fled into the nearby woods. The Charleston Regional Aviation Authority Police quickly responded, establishing a perimeter along South Aviation Avenue. After a brief search, the two men were located and apprehended.

The men were charged with trespassing after warning. However, officials clarified that the incident did not disrupt normal airport operations and there was no threat to public safety.

Clarification on U.S. Customs Involvement

Airport officials also clarified that U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) was not involved in the incident, and no operations related to the breach were conducted by ICE at Charleston International Airport (CHS).
