Charleston, South Carolina – For the past two decades, the Medical University of South Carolina has honored four-pawed, tail-wagging, furry-eared K-9 physicians of hope.
A program at MUSC that has benefited thousands of people in a variety of ways. A wagging tail has therapeutic properties, and kisses are also beneficial.
A celebration of a program with tremendous consequences, and an opportunity for a round of “a-paws”
MUSC’s therapeutic animal program celebrates its 20th anniversary.
These are just a few of the many ways therapy dogs have benefited, as reported by many who are really thankful for their assistance.
At this event, every dog, large and tiny, is blessed. It’s a chance to thank the therapy dogs and their handlers for bringing comfort and support to patients and staff.
And, while dogs can aid others, it is also rewarding for those who provide relief.
A genuine improvement to patient care. It’s difficult not to feel better with a fuzzy companion like this by your side.
Over the last two decades, our program has established itself as a model of excellence.
Charleston Mayor William Cogswell has also issued a proclamation acknowledging the program’s impact. The “blessing of the therapy dogs day” is now on October 4th.
