Helping Kids Prepare for a Successful School Year
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Every 1 Voice Matters Back to School Bash is back for its 8th year, continuing its mission to help children get ready for a positive school year. The event took place at the District 4 Stadium in North Charleston from noon to 3 p.m., offering a range of free supplies and activities for students.
Free Supplies and Fun Activities for Students
Thanks to generous partnerships with ‘The Thumbs Up Guys’, Acts of Kindness, the North Charleston Police Department, and M.A.D. USA donations, the event provided 1,300 free bookbags filled with supplies, 200 brand-new pairs of sneakers, and over 300 school uniforms. In addition to these supplies, students were treated to free haircuts, academic assessments, and food.
The event also featured plenty of fun for the kids, including jump castles, a game truck, skating, face painting, and even train rides.
The Importance of Back-to-School Preparation
Despite a downpour, the crowds came out in full force to support the event, which aims to set students up for success by providing them with the necessary tools for the school year.
“It’s always important to make sure that our kids have the proper materials, shoes, and proper items that they need to go back to school confident,” said Sherrika Meyers, Executive Director of Every 1 Voice Matters. “When you feel confident, that means good grades, good behavior—everything instills in a child.”
Acts of Kindness USA Executive Director Latisha Manigault added, “A little bit of rain doesn’t stop anything. People are always very excited to come out every year.”
