During the government shutdown, Charleston Sports Pub is initiating a free kids meal promotion

Charleston, South Carolina – Beginning Nov. 3, a Lowcountry sports pub will offer complimentary kids meals at all of its hospitality group’s sites.

Children aged 13 and under will be eligible for a free lunch at all Charleston Sports Pub locations as well as other group-owned restaurants such as Coconut Joe’s, The Shelter Bar and Grill, and Lawrence’s Seafood Company.

The deal is restricted to one kids’ meal per day per child, and the child must be present; the offer is only valid for dine-in. The offer is not contingent on making a purchase.

Charleston Sports Pub Operations Director Adam Laroche stated that this is the first time the group has offered the offer.

“We understand there’s part of the community that might need a place to go, and in the same aspect, with everything in the federal government and the potential SNAP benefits being removed,” Laroche told the audience. “We want to be there for the community, for those who need to eat and for their children. Feel free to bring them to us and we will offer a lunch for you.”

This deal will be available until the government shutdown ends.

The halt in SNAP payments due to the prolonged government shutdown will affect thousands of South Carolinians.

As a result of the SNAP hiatus, Gov. Henry McMaster has activated the One SC Fund, which will enable a coordinated philanthropic giving drive aimed at delivering direct monetary support to regional food banks and local feeding partners throughout the state.
