Deputies arrest a Moncks Corner lady after examining a suspicious car on a boat dock

Berkeley County, South Carolina — A Moncks Corner woman was arrested on narcotics charges last weekend after deputies saw a suspicious car near the Cypress Gardens boat landing.

Crystal Lynn Montgomery, 33, faces charges of trafficking Fentanyl, producing a scheduled narcotic, possessing cocaine, possessing a controlled substance, and possessing a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies were conducting extra patrols at the landing on September 13 when they noticed a strange car, which a concerned citizen stated had been parked there for some time, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

When they approached, they made contact with Montgomery and another man in the car. The deputy smelt marijuana and conducted a probable cause search, which revealed the following:

Approximately 16.70 grams of fentanyl (pressed pills).
About 2.82 grams of cocaine.
Approximately 144.38 grams of psilocybin Mushrooms (including packaged chocolate items)
Marijuana
A 9mm Ruger handgun.
Digital scales, packing materials, and other drug-related equipment
“This is another example of how proactive patrol and community involvement play a vital role in keeping dangerous drugs off the streets of Berkeley County,” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis noted. “Keeping Berkeley County safe requires a collaborative effort, and we always welcome citizen suggestions. We appreciate the information that resulted in a major narcotic seizure.

Montgomery was booked into the Berkeley County Detention Center.
