Charleston, S.C. – Firefighters in Charleston responded to a wildfire on an island near Terns Nest Road on James Island. The fire occurred in a remote area, and an airboat from the Charleston Police Department was used to reach the island. Fire crews brought portable fire pumps and other equipment to help control the flames.

When crews arrived, they found one to two acres of natural vegetation burning, along with some smoldering debris. The fire was believed to have started at a nearby campsite on the island. Fortunately, no lives or property were at risk on the island, and the fire was contained.
