Drivers traveling eastbound on I-26 in North Charleston experienced delays Thursday morning as construction crews closed three lanes between the Eagle Drive overpass and the I-526 overpass.
Concrete Patching Work Ongoing
The road work is part of an ongoing concrete patching project that has been underway for several weeks. Traffic was heavy around 4 a.m. as vehicles merged into a single open lane through the construction zone.
Lanes Expected to Reopen Early Morning
The South Carolina Department of Transportation said the affected lanes were expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling through the area.
