Charleston Southern University has announced an increase in its tuition discount for first responders, aiming to make education more affordable for those who serve the community.
Higher Tuition Discount Announced
The university has raised its tuition discount from 20% to 25% for first responders and public safety personnel. President B. Keith Faulkner shared the news during the annual criminal justice job fair on March 19.
He thanked officers and emergency workers for their dedication, highlighting the university’s appreciation for their service during difficult and critical situations.
Who Can Benefit from This Offer
The increased discount will apply to both active and retired first responders. This includes:
- Local, state, and federal officers
- Certified or sworn public safety personnel
The new benefit will be available for those enrolling in eligible programs after June 1, 2026.
Courses and Program Options
Eligible students can choose from a range of programs, including:
- Bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice
- Master’s degrees in criminal justice
- Graduate programs in public safety management
Courses are available both on campus and online, giving flexibility to working professionals.
A Meaningful Step for the Community
Gary Metts, a retired law enforcement officer and associate dean, said the decision is a way to give back to those who protect the community every day. He described it as a small but meaningful gesture to recognise their service and commitment.
