Charleston County, South Carolina – Charleston County plans to have a pre-construction community meeting on Monday for the Fort Johnson Road Intersection Improvement Projects.
According to county authorities, the initiatives would assist improve safety at two Fort Johnson Road crossings that are considered to be problematic for both automobiles and pedestrians.
To improve traffic flow and safety, the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Secessionville Road will be signalized, featuring crosswalks, pedestrian refuge spaces, pedestrian signals, and dedicated turn lanes.
The Fort Johnson Road/Camp Road intersection will be converted into a roundabout to safely and efficiently manage diverse traffic kinds.
It will also include better pedestrian infrastructure including walkways, ramps, and crosswalks.
Charleston County Public Works is slated to share project goals at Monday night’s meeting, and officials say attendees will have the opportunity to communicate directly with the project team.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at James Island Town Hall on Dills Bluff Road.
