Charleston County Public Works will hold a quarterly public meeting this Wednesday to provide an update on the ongoing Main Road Corridor “Segment A” project. The meeting will be an opportunity for local residents to learn more about the project’s progress and future plans.
What is the Main Road Corridor “Segment A” Project?
The Segment A project spans nearly 2.5 miles along Main Road, beginning at Bees Ferry Road and continuing to the intersection of River Road and Chisolm Road. The project is aimed at addressing congestion issues, particularly at the intersection of Savannah Highway and Main Road. Key goals of the project include:
Reducing traffic congestion at the busy intersection.
Increasing road capacity along Main Road from Bees Ferry to River Road and Chisolm Road.
Improving bicycle and pedestrian access along the corridor.
Enhancing stormwater drainage throughout the project area to reduce flooding and improve water management.

The public meeting will take place at Saint John’s High School on Wednesday, July 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to hear directly from project officials about the status and future plans for the Main Road Corridor “Segment A” project.
