Charleston County, South Carolina – Charleston County is holding a pre-construction community meeting to discuss a significant forthcoming road repair project.
The Fort Johnson Road Intersection Improvement Project meeting will take place on Monday, November 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. at James Island Town Hall.
Residents will get the opportunity to hear from county public works experts on the project’s objectives, estimated phasing, timetable, and construction timeframe.
After the presentation, attendees will be able to speak directly with project team members if they have any questions or concerns.
The project will improve the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Secessionville Road by installing crosswalks, pedestrian refuge zones, pedestrian signals, and dedicated turn lanes to streamline traffic and increase safety.
It is funded through the 2016 Transportation Sales Tax vote. Banks Construction Company will carry out project plans after receiving $11,711,237.65 from the county government.
Pre-construction has already begun, and all enhancements are projected to be completed by June 2027.
