Charleston County officials are asking residents to share their input as the county develops a long-term plan that will guide housing and community development efforts over the next several years.
Long-Term Plan in Development
The county is currently working on a Consolidated Plan that will outline priorities for federal housing and community development funding from 2026 through 2030.
This plan will determine how annual grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are distributed and used across the county.
Public Input a Key Part of Process
Leaders say community feedback will play a critical role in shaping the plan. Officials are looking to better understand residents’ needs when it comes to housing, public spaces, economic development, and other local priorities.
To gather that input, residents are encouraged to complete an online survey available through the county’s engagement website.
Public Hearing Scheduled
In addition to the survey, a public hearing is scheduled to give residents another opportunity to share their thoughts.
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 9 in the Council Chambers on the second floor of the Public Services Building at 4045 Bridgeview Drive in North Charleston.
Looking Ahead
County officials say the Consolidated Plan will serve as a roadmap for future investments and programs, helping guide decisions on how to best use federal funding to meet community needs.
More information about the plan, as well as details on housing and development programs, is available through the Charleston County Community Development and Revitalization Department.
